New year more new plans

the Yurts are away and the admin pile is now reducing , we’ve had a little time to reflect on our first season. Thank you to everyone who has stayed with us you’ve all made it an amazing first year. We’ve loved reading your comments and seeing the lovely pictures , keep them coming if you tag isn’t @cherishglaming we can see them.

We’ve been looking at ways to improve things and enhance our facilities to give everyone an even better experience.

For next year we’ve a few more things to build and things to offer you.

For a start we have locally hand made chocolates and hot chocolate packs , with help from inspired chocolates in Leyburn and the home farmer in Asgarth, I must admit I did toy with making the chocolates myself but thought I’d beat concentrate on looking after yurts And cooking breakfasts and dinners.

I‘ve gained my personal license and we have now applied for a site alcohol license so watch this space for details of our wine list, beer list and gin packs , again it’s a hard job but Steve and I will be taste testing to find the best local produce we can ( although Yorkshire isn’t renowned for its wines you may have to forgive us the wine miles ) we’ve some fabulous local craft breweries and gin producers.

Our bread will now all come directly from our local bakers Cocketts in Hawes.

As ever all of our cheeses, butter, milk and meat will come from our local producers , you can’t beat the milk from the home farmer vending machine and they now started producing wonderful cheese.

I’m investigating ways of reducing single use plastic throughout the site , all of our toiletries have refillable bottles as do our cleaning products so just let us know if your short of anything and we’ll top it up. The only thing we haven’t managed so far it the wood bags , we’ve reduced this by buying the wood stocks for your welcome packs and the initial hottub heating in large crates , but at the moment we can’t get the quality of firewood bagged any other way than in plastic and for us to weigh and pack it ourselves we’d just have to charge too much, we have had a chat to our supplier though.

Towards the summer we’ll be adding a 6th yurt, Goldfinch another of our feathered visitors that you can see around the farm. All of our yurts will have wood fired hottubs next year.

Right now the guys who built the washrooms for us are scheduling in another 2 , and working up plans for some decking in front of the barn. I have a sneaking suspicion that Sarah from Castle Timber Buildings is regretting her tag line of we can build anything as we’ve challenged them to build us a plunge pool . which brings me to our next exciting plan , the Eco Spa ! What’s that ? Well on our new decking area we’ll be fitting a wooden barrel sauna with a full size window to make the most of our views , they‘ll be a plunge pool ( thanks Sarah and guys ) a larger hottub , seating area and extra large Indian Fire bowl, the area can be hired for 2 hr sessions at a cost of £65 for up to 6 people ( our sauna capacity), of course if you would like to hire it for longer or create a package that include pizza or high tea, just ask and we’ll see what we can do.

Once again we’ll have some piglets , and the chickens are still doing a grand job of slowing down all of the traffic, I did suggest that we got some cows and goats but I think that we’ll get the glamping focused on first ( although it’s very tempting so you never know).

Right I beat get back to dealing with the accounts, planning menus and then onto the wine tasting ( we’ll it’s still Christmas isn’t it 😀)

Have a wonderful New Year and we hope to welcome you to our yurts when we reopen in April.

with best wishes Jo, Steve and the kids , dogs , pigs and chickens
